On vacation, my wife and I went to Hawaii.  After the day long travel and finally checking in, we ventured down to the bar.  Sitting there unwinding and taking in the cool nighttime Pacific breeze, I began to notice the three-piece band and their rhythmic music.  The man on the instrument of which I did not know the name was highly animated and making a sweet moving latin inspired melody.  The base player was smoothly keeping the crew in beat and the drummer in the back was smiling and enjoying himself immensely.  Well, I had to go back to our room and get my camera.  I knew this would be a great painting subject.   This was a fun and challenging painting.  It won Best of Show at a LSAG Spring Show and is now in a private collection.
I took many pictures and at first, they were disappointing.  Because of this painting, I upgraded my studio lighting system.  Several rolls of film later, I finally was able to take a suitable picture for my records.
