Marble Falls Paint the Town 2015

Brokeback Creek Trestle
Brokeback Creek Trestle

This is the third adventure to Marble Falls to participate in a painting competition and I do so with  anticipation and trepidation.  I have expectaions to succeed and improve.

We arrived the night before and stayed at the Hampton.  The next morning was heavily overcast and misty; forebode of impending rain. My kind of  day.  We scouted possible sites; I strive to find unique subjects, how many times can one paint the most popular restaurant in town?  While driving around, I saw a train trestle to my left and after a sloshing through a park, was able to settle on a concrete pad just near to my new subject: Brokeback Creek Trestle.

I composed and completed a 20 x 16 oil painting on Ampersand Gessobord in that same day as we had dinner plans that evening.

The next morning I woke up very early to paint sunrise and did this Stormy Sunrise in the dark.  12 x 9 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord.

I entered both and to my genuine surprise the Brokeback Creek Trestle earned 5th place!  Praise God!

Both were auctioned off to successfully culminate a wonderful weekend.

Hey - found you - was trying to check on searches to tell people how to find my writing on WritersCafe.org - I write under the name Healing Star - but anyways my name is Gary Paul Frisk - and it's interesting you Expression is painting and mine is writing - and my Daughter does the water colors for my pieces - gonna put out a book of some of my 1300 pieces I have on WritersCafe - I grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - west of Ishpeming. have lived near Salt Lake City Utah longer than anywhere - over 30 years - a couple in Bay Area and a few in Wisconsin on my full Journey. I liked the paintings I saw here - keep goin' on the Improving like you said - don't let your mind convince you that your less than you Are - who we always thought that we were is like a single drop of rain - But Who WE Truly Are is vaster than All the Oceans - for Your True has no Bounds - Beyond both Time and Space - the True you is Formless and Shapeless and is Eternal - there is no Death but that we lose the will to Live - lose the Passion for Life - No one can take Life From Us - but Everyday we see so Many Giving theirs Away.
